Oleg Riabokon is founder and Managing Partner of Magister & Partners, Attorneys-at-Law.
Mr. Riabokon chairs the International Trade & Customs and the Real Estate & Construction practices of the firm. As the Head of International Trade & Customs Practice he represented international clients in more than 90 trade cases and negotiations in a number of countries including Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Chile, EU, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Peru, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, Thailand, Ukraine, USA and Venezuela. He regularly advises clients on customs valuations, import and export duties, customs fraud, classification of goods.
Mr. Riabokon has also handled a wide variety of investment transactions, real estate and construction projects, joint venture projects, corporate and privatization matters, and consultations on intellectual property rights. He has been involved in major litigations, representing clients before the District Court of Arbitration, the Supreme Court of Arbitration, the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the civil court system of Ukraine. He has also served as an expert witness in a litigation matter involving customs, maritime and trade regulations in a case before the Federal Court of New York, USA.
In 2006, Mr. Riabokon, in conjunction with Gary Horlick, Senior Partner of Wilmer Hale, Washington DC (USA), represented Ukrainian steel mills and the Ukrainian Government in the groundbreaking case leading to the recognition of Ukraine as a market economy country by the US Department of Commerce in December 2006.
In 2004, he worked as an adviser to the High Working Group on forming Common Economic Space (CES) between Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine. In this capacity Mr. Riabokon and his team developed three draft international agreements regulating trade relations of the CES.
Mr. Riabokon has graduated from the International Law Department of the Institute of International Relations, Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University (1995) and obtained his LL.M. degree from the Georgetown University, Washington, USA (1996).
